Our solar street lighting systems operate from 24 Volts DC solar electric power. The 24 Volt DC solar modules we use are constructed of high efficiency crystalline silicon cell technology. The 165 - 175 watt solar modules supplied with our systems have proven reliability. The solar module manufacturer stands behind the solar modules with a 20 year warranty.
Our compact fluorescent lamps are 24 Volt (36 / 39 Watt). Two (2) of these lights are installed inside of a single aluminum light fixture. The supplied aluminum mast arm that attaches to our light fixture is approximately 5 foot length. The fluorescent lamps are economical and will operate 10,000 hours each before replacement is needed. Replacement lamps will cost you less than $30.00 each.
Our fluorescent lights produce approximately 2,750 lumens each of brightness x 2 = 5,500 total lumens and are very bright. The foot candles of our lights are equivalent to a grid-tied electric street light at 2.0 to 3.0 foot candles of brightness. Our lights can operate in sub-zero temperatures as they have cold-start type of ballasts. Our lights do not flicker in cold weather environments.
Our systems have two (2) - 12 Volt (100 Amp Hour) gel-celled batteries that are connected in Series to produce 24 Volts of DC electric power. Replacement cost per battery is approximately $150.00 per battery. Less-expensive deep-cycle marine batteries can be used in lieu of the gel-celled maintenance-free batteries. The supplied batteries are installed inside of an attractive powder coated aluminum battery enclosure with all necessary hardware needed for attachment to our supplied pole or to a customer supplied pole. The enclosure is vandal resistant. There are two (2) separate 24 Volt DC Timers that operate the On / Off times of the two (2) compact fluorescent lights. You can set both of the lights to operate from Dusk to Dawn or you can set either or both of the lights to operate any On / Off hours of your choosing. The lights can operate for up to 12 hours per night. The lights will operate for up to five (5) days continuously without any sunlight as our systems are designed having a 5 day backup power capacity. As a low battery safety feature, on the 6th day without having any sunlight, the solar systems charge controller will not allow the lights to operate until there is enough sunlight to recharge the batteries to full capacity. Generally, just a single day of adequate sunlight will bring the batteries back to full charge.
In high-wind areas, we recommend using our tapered galvanized steel poles that are 20 foot height. This pole is designed to withstand strong winds. The pole tapers from approximately 2 inches at the top of the pole to almost 8 inches at the base of the pole. The base of the pole is constructed of thick steel and is welded to the pole using the Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) Process. In lower-wind areas we suggest using our attractive straight 4-1/2 inch outside diameter spun aluminum pole that is 20 foot in height. The base of the pole is constructed of cast aluminum and is the break-away style of base meeting the rigid standards of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials Standards (AASHTO).
Complete solar street lighting systems start off at $3,500.00 per system plus taxes and shipping charges. Shipping charges per each solar street lighting system average about $350.00 per system depending upon your geographical location within the United States of America.
PLEASE NOTE: Sorry but we do not sell or ship our solar street lighting systems outside of the United States of America.
